Moxie and Mabel Clothing. There is a common thread that runs through all these designs—fabrics and patterns naturally come and go, but our fascination with the past is the one constant. Inspiration is rooted in simpler times—long summer evenings, ice cold lemonade, old pick up trucks, and hot apple pie straight from the oven—and we try to capture a little of that in every little girl’s dress, little boy’s shirt, and baby quilt they make. Combining elements of different eras, like sewing patterns inspired by past generations with new fabrics from favorite designers (Amy Butler, Sis Boom & Heather Bailey, just to name a few) or vintage embroidered pillowcases paired with a more contemporary dress design, is a favorite way to create something a little unexpected and extra interesting. The results are sometimes quirky, sometimes funky, sometimes lovely, and always unique.
